I do not have words to describe the experience I had at this campground.we have been season campers for around 10 years and it was really great at first we had lots of fun and would go every weekend to our camper and have a blast that was until the pandemic, we where still aloud to go and we did but it started to get bad when the staff/owners would go around giving violations of the rules for things they approved then things got a little better when they faded away for a wile but then comes 2021 the same thing kept happening with random violations for no reason campers started speaking up but the owners response was up the price lower the electricity and up pump out rates everything got more expensive for less quality then came 2022 it became terrible they where moving things on peoples sites, throwing things away and yelling at kids for having electric dirt bikes in the rules there are no gas powered vehicles allowed except for cars to come and leave so campers use electric golf carts for transportation so kids thought electric dirt bikes would be ok (they where wrong) almost immediately they would told they cold not have them and where repeatedly yelled at and yes yelled at also the staff use gas posed kubotas for transportation then lastly came 2023 the final straw for us we started the season knowing it could be are last but still hoping things could change they did not instead prices where raised by 2x and the staff got super rude and this time we had enough we made the decision to leave and we plan on never coming back again they where so rude and disrespectful to there campers that loved to going and hanging out with friends and we are so sad that they would do stuff that that to there community of people who camp there so please if you go to this terrible rude place be prepared for rude staff and bad cabins. Also I don’t know where to start with the cabins they are disgusting dirty and old the wood is rotting and thre are spider everywhere then there is tent camping there is glass everywhere and the ports potties seem to be never cleaned the front shower house has had at least 5 health violations and pond is dirty there are fish that bit you while swimming and if they did not die it it would poop brown In total this campground is atrocious and the staff is beyond rude to campers. To owner not real name still my experience though

Seasonal Residential Camp Experience. I wish I could give more stars but I have 3 major gripes about my experience. First the good things about this campground... It's clean, the office staff is wonderful, the other campers are great, kid friendly with swimming pond, playground, and little activities here and there! We got to personally pick our site at the campground open house which was nice and unlike any other campground we stayed at. This campground cost more than TWICE what we've paid at for any other campground without even having full hookup but we knew that going into it. There's not much in the Cleveland area for long term camping so we were ok with this. Now for the cons. 1. During the first couple weeks the Owner and what I'm assuming was an employee walked through my campsite and shook my camper. This happened mid afternoon during a weekday and startled me, my dog, and my baby. Baby was peacefully napping before this happened. It turns out they had a problem with a package of wipes I had out on the picnic table as they moved it off the table....I guess having wipes on your table to clean your baby's chair that he sits in 3 times a day, every day, is not deemed ok to have on site and management WILL walk through your site with no warning and take your belongings. Meanwhile weekend campers come and their tables are full of all kinds of stuff at all times of the day and night and that seems to be no problem. Mid to end of the season there was a campsite that literally had beer cans all over it for weeks on end BUT again my package of wipes was a problem. Make sure to read your lease in full before signing and agreeing anything. 2. At the open house I asked if they enforce the dog leash law as this was very important to me. They said they did and that they were super strict and didn't tolerate dogs off leash. They do have policies and rules in place stating the same thing. However, they DO NOT enforce leash law whatsoever, not even when an employee is nearby and sees off leash dogs, and they DID NOT evict campers even after a loose rabid pitbull charged my dog and I informed them and told them I didn't feel safe. On August 1 my dog was charged by a loose pitbull while I was walking him on leash. (I don't blame the campground for that, it happens everywhere for some reason especially by non residential/seasonal camper dogs) I informed the office the same night and asked for the dog's vet records... It turns out they only require dog records for seasonal/residential camper dogs. I never received any records whatsoever so I assume this pitbull was rabid. The campground owners allowed these campers to stay at least a week after this incident, finishing up their stay to completion. This attack mentally cost my dog's life. If I owned a campground, loose rabid Pitbulls would NOT be allowed and without proof of a vaccination AFTER an attack would at minimum be an automatic eviction. 3. They only have 1 working dump station and it's flooded every time it rains so it's pretty much unusable 25% of the time. This does not work well when you have to dump 3-4 times a week because they have no full hookup.

This was our 1st year and last year at this Campground. The Manager Allison is RUDE!!! The 1 and only shower house is from the 70's and is completely filthy!! They nickle and dime you for everything!!! You are not allowed to have electric 4 wheelers, but yet electric dirt bikes are allowed to be rode by children under the age of 16. But kids are not allowed to drive golf carts unless they are 16!?!? The swimming lake is not maintained, as several kids have been cut badly on their feet from shells and rocks. Also the gate after 9:30 pm is open till 10 am the next day, which means anyone can come into the campground!! My husband and I have witnessed vehicles in front of the shower house that just were able to come in after 9:30 and sleep in theor vehicle. This has been addressed to Allison our concerns, and nothing was resolved. STAY CLEAR OF THIS CAMPGROUND!!!

We just spent the holiday weekend and American Wilderness Campground we had such a nice time. Everybody was so helpful and nice looking to see about getting a permanent so I did the campsite next year. Could not believe after we came home from camping. Luckily only 20 minutes away they called my wife to say that I left the Watchdog surge protector Which is over a $250 surge protector. We are so thankful and happy to have such a nice place close by.

My wife wrote a review and my wife was blocked in respoding to Allison after her comment on my review. I called last week in regaurds to see when we will get our electrical depost back,as i have time stamped pictures that we have gone over 500 kw. I highly do not recommend spending your money at american wilderness campground.

Overpriced. Charges double on fathers day. You would think that they would cut you a deal to see your family. Any services are also overpriced. Won't fix flooding issues. Arcade games either take your money or just plain don't work. Good place if you want to get wasted and drive your golfcart around at night.

The people here are nice, but unfortunately that is all there is. The campgrounds has a lot of potential, but it is run down and not maintained. All the the campground and sites are gravel, or they used to be. There are pot holes all over the place and it looks like the gravel has not been maintained or serviced in year. When it rains the entire place turns to mud. Additionally, most specific camp sites are not level or raised at all. When it rains they turn to mud and ponds. We had 2 inches of water under our camper. The water does not drain well either. To top it all of all of the best sites have full time trailers parked on them. Be aware there are only one set of porta-poties for the entire campground and they are nasty. There are showers, but they are up front and a long away from the campers and they are old and not well maintained. When it rains, the entrance to these showers flood. The lake looks perfect, but when you get to it, the beach has very little sand and is mostly mud. Once you wade into the lake you learn that it is barely waist deep at the deepest parts. Ug. I thought I had experienced all the disappointment for the campgrounds, but on the way out we stopped at the dump station to find it was flooded as well. 3 inches of water to stand in as you dump. . . .it had not rained for 12 hours and it was still flooded. . ug. Very disappointing.

We camp in a tent and paid for a spot with electricity turns out that the outlet for the electricity was over 100 feet away from out tent. Had to go buy a very long extation cord to get to our tent. The bathrooms are old and very dirty. …
